Love and Lovers in “18 x 2 Beyond Youthful Days”

Bored out of my mind, I was scrolling through Netflix for what felt like forever. Then, a title caught my eye: ‘18 x 2 Beyond Youthful Days.’ Intrigued, I clicked on the description: ‘18 years ago, two young people met… yada yada… never blossomed into a relationship.’ And just like that, my jaw dropped. Wait a second—that’s my movie!

It all clicked when I heard this line:

Life is exactly like this journey on a train. We meet so many strangers reaching their destination. We talk to them, learn from them, take a part of themselves, give them a part of ourselves, never to see them ever again.

Now imagine watching a guy like Jimmy, who travels across the length and breadth of your country to honour the memory of you and the love you once shared. Talk about main-character energy! This guy literally just got fired from his own company. Beat that.

The story began 18 years ago. Enter our second main character, Ami. What does she have going on? Well, she’s a solo traveler to Taiwan, and in my opinion, all solo travelers have automatic main-character vibes.

When these two innocent souls cross paths and share moments together, you might expect the obvious to happen. But guess what? The obvious doesn’t happen—until it does. Confused? Good. That’s your cue to stop reading and start watching.

Why should I spoil it for you when it’s free to stream on Netflix?

PS: Don’t watch it just because you’re bored. Watch it because it might just change how you see your own love story
